Mapusa market was one of the best markets of Goa. Every Friday my mom would visit this market for her weekly provisions. But today it has become congested and the authorities are not all interested in solving the people’s problems.
One cannot walk safely in the market place as lots of two wheelers are seen moving inside the market and cause problems to us, who use the market.
Secondly buildings are built in Mapusa without any space around the building which we can call parking space.
To make matters worse, some people working in Panjim or Margao or Vasco leave their two-wheelers and even four-wheelers in Mapusa and these remain there for the whole day and as such others cannot park their vehicles.
Lastly I do not think we need helmets in Mapusa as it becomes very difficult especially for ladies to manage their belongings and additionally the helmets. Traffic police should see to the two-wheeler riders who are zooming on the wrong side sometimes and sometimes ride without a licence.
