As these banks have stopped accepting payment of electricity bills, consumers are left with no option but to make payment of  the monthly electricity bill at the payment counter of the Electricity Department at Curti.
However, here too they faced hardships, as the consumers could not make their monthly electricity bill payment despite standing  in long queues as there was no arrangement made in the system to accept the new notes of Rs 250 and Rs 50.
As the rectification was not made, the machine rejected the new notes of denomination Rs 250 and Rs 50, forcing customers to look for other alternatives.
When this correspondent contacted, some officials, they admitted that the machine had not been updated to accept new notes and promised due action would be taken soon.
Ponda customers can be seen running from banks and cooperative societies to make their payments of electricity and water bills, but returned dejected as no bank entertained their demands.
