Statistics have shown that the pillion rider is equally, if not more, prone to suffer serious injuries in case of an accident. It is therefore imperative that both the riders wear helmets (properly fastened with the belt provided), just as mandated by the law in many cities in India and abroad.
Why should only Goa be an exception? Are not the lives of the pillion riders equally valuable? During the lockdown period, motorcycle riders followed the two helmet policy for both the riders without any problem.
Why discontinue it now? I urge the authorities concerned to continue with this rule permanently without any hesitation. It will definitely save a lot of precious lives.
