Today our roads have become virtual “death traps”. The major reason behind this is the people violating traffic rules as most follow rules only with a sense of fear of police. Whenever one finds the police absent from the site, he/she breaks the rules.
Youth often drive at faster speeds and violate rules and regulations. The adrenaline rush by driving beyond the speed limit is extremely dangerous too. There is a need to instill traffic discipline in them especially with regards to traffic signals that red light means stop, amber light – proceed with caution and green light -go. Driving at higher speeds usually becomes difficult to control a vehicle and there are greater chances of accidents taking place. We must always follow the traffic rules and people driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs should be stopped. The motorists must ensure that the vehicle indicators and horns function.
Traffic Police must strictly check the over speeding, overtaking, drunken driving, riding without helmets, etc. I hope that the people may understand the importance of road safety and the concerned authorities will initiate strict action against offenders.
