DAA must provide computerised service

The Directorate of Archives and Archaeology (DAA), Panjim should provide computerised service to the public to ensure speedy service in case of the old records whichever are already computerised.

Public from different corners of Goa, visit the department to inspect their relevant documents such as inscriptions, descriptions, old sale deeds and birth and death certificates etc.

On behalf of the general public, I would like to suggest that the Directorate of Archives and Archaeology to avail computerised service of providing documents if the public have detailed information about the required documents.

For example, if a member of public has details of inscriptions or descriptions such as book number, page number and register number…Instead of providing book for the inspection, the concerned officer of the department should directly check the record on the computer without wasting time and if the details match, he should confirm the document on the required form and issue to the general public with the speedy service.

Now, as far as inspecting the document personally is concerned, it becomes very essential to search required documents by having required book of the documents. And this process will take time, where no one can compromise. The notice of “direct issue of documents after confirmation of details on computer records” should be displayed in the DAA office for public information. This is my humble suggestion to the department as new Cabinet minister for the DAA is yet to take charge.
