Recently, a group of girls who travelled to Canacona in the evening on motor bikes described their horrible journey and how the roads from Balli to Paddi can make your journey to hell and back.
The roads have holes deep enough to drown hearts of people who go over them. The situation gets terrifying especially after 6 pm because there are literally no streetlights from the Karmal Ghat till Balli, which means people have no idea what they are getting into when they start riding post 6 pm.
The journey makes you wonder if there is any politician contesting elections from Balli to Canacona because it looks like those areas are untouched by development or civilisation.
The experience of riding the bikes in the pitch black darkness was both, death defying and terrifying, to these girls who rode with their hearts in their mouth and swore to never travel alone on those roads.
It’s a sad state when women have to think twice before travelling to a place in Goa. Who would have thought that Goa would see this day? I honestly don’t know what I should be more upset at, the horrible roads or inability to see these terrible roads in the darkness, because of no streetlights? One wonders.
