Benaulim Beach parking and other locations in the village have been witnessing defacement to the government property over the past many months, and often it is the government departments themselves which are guilty of despoiling the fixtures.
Electrical junction boxes, feeder pillars, high mast lights, post boxes, walls, everything seems to attract posters, signboards, flex banners or film release announcements. Besides, making the landscape ugly, they are also a danger to the fixtures, acting either as obstructions or fire hazards as they are mostly fabricated of combustible materials. The village panchayat/government authorities must take exemplary action against such eyesores and levy stiff fines on the perpetrators.
