There is a wall opposite the INOX multiplex where piles of garbage are dumped. Because of the rains, the dumped waste is rotting and the area is nauseating. The piled up waste has not been collected for days. The place around the fish market is never kept clean either. There are heaps of tender coconut shells which are lying for months. There appears to be no authority responsible for the maintenance of the market. For the Corporation of the City of Panjim, Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan seems to be a one-day affair. Why does either the Mayor or the Chief Officer of CCP not pay periodic visits to the market complex and oversee the cleanliness of the area?
