Dirty Shah Arcade in St Cruz turning into an open toilet

Today St Cruz is not like what it was before. We see dirt, garbage and sewage everywhere, even in the main market area, near Shah Arcade. Not to mention the traffic congestion and the problems people face due to indiscipline on the road.
The area has gone from bad to worse. Day by day various problems keep accumulating in St Cruz and adjoining areas, be it the ever-increasing garbage problem, stray cattle menace, construction material scattered around, cement and sand bags thrown as scraps that obstructs water and chokes our creeks.
Even the St Cruz church cemetery is not spared and its rear is full of stinking garbage littered everywhere and people urinating in an open without any fear or shame except, leaving womenfolk to suffer without proper toilet facilities.
It is disgusting to see the busy business centre in such a condition. What is wrong with the authorities, why don’t they take action? What do they expect this place to be – an open air toilet?
Also, do our leaders have no time for those who have elected them?
It is disheartening to see herds of cattle and other animals squatting and occupying public places and roads, after rummaging the garbage and turning things upside down.
And if you thought the door to door garbage collection system is a hit, think again.
The workers appointed by the  panchayat are very irregular and do not collect garbage thrown around and often want garbage handed to them.
All they are good to do is blow their whistle unnecessarily and remain absent most of the time, without adhering to a specific time. Its annoying to see them turn up at different times and they expect people to be around when the y blow their whistle.
It is not fair to waste tax payers to pay and to tax exorbitantly for no rhyme or reason.
I request the authorities and the owners of Shah Arcade to maintain cleanliness and keep the place clean in the interest of general public of our beautiful St Cruz and other areas.
