Parts of Goa are reeling under power outages and as per Central government reports there is not enough stock of coal to feed our thermal power plants. In light of this (pun intended) wasting power, courtesy lit LED streetlights during the daytime is almost a crime.
This is particularly observed in the coastal villages of Varca and Benaulim.
Every streetlight should be sensor controlled so that it automatically switches on or off depending on the ambient light conditions at dawn or dusk thus doing away for the need for human intervention. While at it, the Electricity Department should also attend to the problem of unlocked MCB boxes all over the place.
