Work on construction of the new Zuari Bridge seems to be in full swing on the Cortalim side. However, the piling work being carried out is putting everyday motorists using the road at a great inconvenience and risk as the mud from the construction site has carried over onto the highway tarred portion making the road very slippery. The mud on the road virtually envelopes the entire section right up to Verna hillock with a dust cloud leading to suffocation and breathing ailments for the commuters.
The contractor needs to be forced by the authorities to erect dust barriers and cleaning the existing road of mud and other debris as it a health and safety hazard failing which its only a matter of time when everyday commuters will start to have health issues due to this negligence on the part of the Zuari Bridge contractor. Commuters should free to question the contractor for this lapse.
