The Siolim commuters have been the most bruised people for almost two years due to the ongoing delayed work taken up by the Water Resources Department for laying of the 700mm dia pipeline for irrigation at Anjuna and partly Siolim.
With Chief Minister Pramod Sawant talking about the villages being self-reliant hopefully this pipeline will help the farmers to revive their farming activities that have already been taken up by the tourism industry. The fields are getting land filled for construction purposes. The wait is getting longer and there is another problem being cropping up the PWD water supply line that is of the cement pipe laid 25 years ago getting broken due to the works going on. Once the road gets hot-mixed, the Siolcars will be awakened by the new problem of damage bursting water pipes and the PWD (PHEN) will swing in action to repair or make another estimate for pipeline replacement. I appeal to the PWD Minister enough is enough, please replace the cement pipeline before the hot-mix is done on war footing.
Let us not damage the new hot-mix carpet after it is laid by December. Otherwise the exchequer’s money will be wasted for such negligence on the part of the PWD and Siolcars will suffer again for no water due to bursting of old cement pipe.
