In present circumstances, roads in different parts of the state have developed potholes. Major cities and towns are no exception. Commuters are confronted with great risk and danger while travelling along the road. There is every possibility of mishaps taking place due to poor road condition. Hence the concerned authorities need to initiate prompt action in improving the dangerous situation. Seen in the picture is a potholed road adjacent to the newly built over bridge along the Dhavali by-pass road in Ponda (photograph clicked on Thursday August 23 at 8.30am).
During heavy downpour commuters are unaware of the depth of potholes due to accumulated rainwater and are most likely to meet with a serious accident. Under such circumstances, assuring safety to travellers assumes great significance. In and around Ponda we still come across potholes on road at various spots. It is time for PWD Minister Ramakrishna alias Sudin Dhavalikar to get acquainted with the existing situation by personally visiting the different locations. Potholed roads must be repaired on top priority so that lives are saved. Since prevention is better than cure, let us hope that prompt action will follow in public interest.
