A few days ago, while travelling to Panjim, only one ferry was plying leading to serpentine queues at Old Goa. This was at the peak office hours. The ferry would be packed with bikes and only 2 cars crossing at one time. When returning from Panjim, the same story repeated itself at the Ribandar ferry at around 12.45 pm.
It should be noted that vehicular traffic in Divar has increased hundred fold. Yet we see only 2 ferries plying, causing a nightmarish experience when one ferry breaks down. To further add to this situation, Divar is now promoted as a tourist attraction, thereby increasing the vehicular traffic.
It is hoped that at least 3 ferries are used at least during the peak hours.
