Flooding in Mapusa market

It’s an annual phenomenon every year that the Municipal market in Mapusa gets flooded during the monsoons. The vendors and the shop keepers complain about the inconveniences caused to their businesses and the losses they have to suffer on account of negligence on the part of the municipality not doing its job well in advance to be prepared for the monsoons.
This year, however, with the first shower of the pre-monsoon, the flooding has been severe due to the ongoing developmental work. There has been constant digging everywhere and the work was not completed on time. Blocked gutters and debris left aside by the contractor has been the major cause for the flooding. The business community complains,  in spite of paying taxes and sopo to the municipality what they get in return is garbage everywhere and the assurances that things will fall in place, but in reality nothing happens and every monsoon the market condition remains the same.
