Work on what was supposed to be a food court at the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Children Park in Vasco which commenced months back is yet to be completed. The proposed project has not gone well with the citizens of Vasco who have questioned the need of a food-court in the park. One of the few open spaces in the port town, the place was used for holding various programs and also served as a playground for children to play cricket and football. But now with the proposed food-court citizens have been deprived of entertainment and children of a playground. Opening of a food-court will lead to garbage problems and probably even anti-social activities at night. It would be in the fitness of things for the authorities concerned to shelf the project and restore the open space.
