On the border of Aldona, Pomburpa-Olaulim and Nachinola, there is an open large waste plateau of rocky terrain called “GAVAR”. In the gone by years, it was a remote area. Now, due to the growing population, many houses have come up surrounding “Gavar”, and it has become a residential area, including Government Sub Electricity Department, Police Outpost and a Primary Health Centre.
In this residential area, there are many youth having a passion for football, who play on makeshift rock terrain ground to become talented players. It is a big shame on the part of the Government being football a State Game the soccer is played in a poorest quality ground. The Government needs to build better infrastructure for football in rural villages, as many as of our talented footballers come from rural areas of unheard villages, and have brought laurels to the State and country. If these village youth at their prime passion for football are not groomed with quality standard of football, how will they become professionals and get selected to represent India?
Request the Goa Sports Ministry and the MLA of Aldona Constituency to build a quality infrastructure football ground at “GAVAR” for the benefit of budding youth.
