It is observed that several saplings have been planted along the Swatantra Path in Vasco. These saplings have been planted at the spots where the old Ashoka trees stood in the past which were either cut down as they were dangerous or have uprooted due to the heavy rains during the monsoon.
However, what missing are the tree-guards. In the absence of tree-guards these saplings can be easily devoured by the stray cattle which abound in the port town. It must be said that when saplings are planted, watering them regularly and guarding them against stray cattle by using tree-guards is of utmost importance. Not using tree-guards defeats the very purpose of having a tree-plantation drive.
