How many lockdowns shall we have to face was the cry of the vendors in the Mapusa Friday Bazaar, which otherwise used to be very crowded buzzing with business activities for the monsoon provision stocking amongst the Goans.
That’s true, even though some grocery outlets stay open, over all the business activities have come to a halt affecting everyone. The daily wage earners are the worst affected as they have no work to earn their livelihood. One labourer said, “Amkam khaunk jeunk poixo na (we have no money to eat).”
It is pertinent to note, however, amidst political wrangling, the government takes decision in the interest of the State but without giving a thought to the survival of the common man which should have been the utmost concern in decision making. It is expected that financial assistance will come to every Goan from the Rs 300 crore the Goa government has received from the Central government in view of the Goa Liberation celebration.
