In Panjim City, it is really miserable to observe how the roads are jammed due to traffic and how people act so casually when an ambulance is behind them. Even if the ambulance plays the siren, drivers would continue with the normal speed and an ambulance driver literally has to drive an ambulance in the zig-zag pattern.
The above scenario is observed especially after the office hours at five in the evening, when everybody is in hurry. And with Christmas and the wedding season around it’s even more tormenting for the patient, medical faculty and an ambulance driver to drive through heavy and uncooperative traffic.
As a driver, when on road, one should be responsible for one’s own action. It is a driver’s duty to either line up behind another vehicle thus clearing an entire separate lane of road for an ambulance to drive away without any inconvenience or one could simply stop their own vehicle besides the road and continue after the ambulance has passed. Every individual should strictly abide by this practice.
Remember your casual attitude is putting someone’s life at stake.
