The government and the Health minister is boasting of state of the art technology in the Goa medical College hospital which is one of the premier hospitals in Goa which mostly caters to the neighbouring states more than the Goans. If one goes to the GMC OPD blocks one will majority of the people standing in queue are migrants from the neighbouring states. Maybe the migrants come to the hospital as it is free but the question is when the neighbouring states have government hospitals in their vicinity. Recently, I have noticed the shabby conditions of the GMC toilets which are stinking and not maintained by the contractor who is entrusted with the work even after paying them. Such toilets are hazardous not only for the patients but also the relatives of the patients admitted who also use this stinking toilets which may cause innumerable diseases. The government needs to address the problem of toilets on the GMC and not only boast of state of the art hospitals which is lacking in clean toilets.
