It is observed that once again exotic plants have been planted along the road from Campal to Panjim city. However, these plants have no guards to protect them. It may be recalled that plants were planted along this road just recently before the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) which were destroyed, with people visiting the various stalls that had come up along the promenade, trampling over them.
It must be said that when a lot of public money is being spent to grow plants they need to be taken proper care by enclosing them in plant-guards and watering them regularly. Such guards will also protect them from the grazing stray-cattle. It is seen that wooden barriers have been put up for the carnival float parade. But this will give temporary protection for the plants. The barriers will be removed after the float parade is over. What is necessary is to put up permanent metal plant guards for these plants so that they grow and bloom during the coming monsoon season.
