The service road at Guirim- Namosi junction, near Green Park Hotel, running parallel to National Highway 66 has developed massive potholes causing great inconvenience to commuters.
It poses a threat to pedestrians and the motorists, who have a tough time maneuvering through the potholed-ridden road. There are several instances where vehicles including four-wheelers have been damaged.
During the rains, when the potholes are full of water, two-wheeler riders often fall in the potholes and suffer injuries. At night, it becomes extremely difficult to commute on this road stretch as there is no proper illumination.
It is shocking that the PWD officials have neglected and not taken any repair work to make the road motorable. It speaks volumes of the quality of material used to construct the road at the cost of taxpayers. When motorists pay road tax then the authorities concerned are duty bound to provide basic amenities – potholed-free roads to motorists. The authorities have literally turned insensitive and thick skinned to human suffering.
Fortunately, till date, no major accidents have been reported on the said stretch, but untoward incidents can happen anytime. The authorities should wake up from their slumber and repair the damaged road before any fatal accident take place.
