Every weekend one witnesses a huge crowd taking a dip in the Arabian Sea at Hollant Beach, near Bogmalo. These include several children. Incidentally, Hollant Beach is considered as one of the safest beaches in the State for a swim.
This is so because of the absence of waves as compared to the huge waves present at the nearby Bogmalo Beach. That is the reason why one sees several children wading in the sea water at the Hollant Beach. The presence of a few lifeguards and a water-scooter reassures the visitors to the beach of all safety.
The beach is by and large much cleaner as compared to the other beaches in the State. This is probably because of the locals who insist that the visitors do not litter this pristine beach.
There are several picnic groups which come to the beach during the vacations. These picnic groups would do well to carry back all the garbage produced during the outing so that the beach is maintained clean.
Hollant Beach is probably a lesson on how other beaches can be maintained clean so that spending of crores of rupees of public money on beach-cleaning procedure is avoided.
