Is there any system in place at the Kadamba station, Panjim to ensure the smooth, effective and safe transport of passengers? From the below-mentioned cases, one gets the impression that there is absolutely no set procedure or system. It appears rule of the mob prevails there – everyone free to do what they please.
UNSCHEDULED STOP: The city buses leave their bay following some designated timetable BUT they always, every time, stop in the middle of the bus station to pick up additional passengers even though the bus is already full at the bay itself.
This unscheduled stop is done arbitrarily without giving a damn to the 30 passengers already sitting in the bus sweating it out. Why can’t the director appoint one of the staff to heavily penalize these errant buses for two reasons.
First, being totally inconsiderate to the time of the passengers already sitting in the bus and second, causing traffic chaos by suddenly stopping in an undesignated spot.
TICKET COUNTER: At the Margao ticket counter, there is a queue for regular paying customers to purchase their tickets. Just adjacent to this is the “supposed” queue for pass holders. In the morning the pass holders outnumber the regular ticket buyers. In such a case when the bus gets filled up with the pass holders then what happens to the paying passengers? What is the sense of issuing tickets to the paying passengers when there is no place in the bus for them? Can a system be introduced which allows entry to the bus on a proportionate basis so that everyone gets sitting space?
The KTC staff is just standing there and watching the mob. Why cannot they strictly enforce a queue system for the pass holders? It is a mob as the enclosed pictures will show.
BAD EXIT ROAD: The exit road from the station resembles a lunar landscape with more potholes than road. This is totally unacceptable as this shows a complete lack of consideration for your passengers and also to the exiting vehicles.
All the above points are so easily manageable and if the director and your department cannot change this immediately, your entire management should tender their resignations immediately. A good transport system is a pre-requisite if Panjim is to get the Smart City tag.
