Illuminate Merces-Santa Cruz approach route

I request the concerned authorities to kindly install streetlights in the area from Dr Jack de Sequeira Junction, Merces to the Santa Cruz approach route of the Third Mandovi Bridge (Atal Setu). The traffic from Alto-Bambolim, Cujira and Santa Cruz to Panjim is in the lane of the ramp of the Third Mandovi Bridge and some cars and all scooters have to change lanes. Often they do it in the final stretch before plying on the bridge. However, the mud-patch separating the lanes on the bridge and under it, is dangerous, uneven and not visible at night. Streetlights should be installed immediately. Further, the median should be constructed with plants in between. We do not need major accidents and fatalities to act. Our inaction or unconcern should be shunned and potential accidents should be avoided.

Further, the stretch under Mandovi Bridge, at Patto is complicated with lots of pillars and a flag post right in the middle of the road, without marking, and physically raised medians etc. Well-designed circles and boards, and better lighting, should be put in place immediately. The area under the bridge, from Malim to Pundalik Nagar should be illuminate by installing streetlights for better visibility especially at night, besides an even-road, should be marked using fluorescent paint. There may be many more poorly lit areas in Goa and roads unmarked and bad, especially where fly-overs and road widening is going on. I am not aware if there is any issue of light-pollution, though we should be aware of it too, and if necessary, should listen to the environmentalists and people of the Goa for solutions.

The people are already sacrificing their freedom, paying a price and trying to flatten the curve, largely due to the poor state of our medical infrastructure. We can further reduce the loads on our hospitals and allied services by having well-lit, even and well-marked roads. Let us not cause accidents through our acts of omission.
