Irregular water supply at Siolim

Recently I lodged a complaint at the PWD (Phen) for irregular and acute water shortage supply faced by the public of Siolim. It is surprising after a good monsoon people of Siolim are facing the shortage since November and we still have three and half months to go with the summer. The situation looks pretty grim and if the PWD Engineer is to be believed then surely we are heading for a water scarcity. Siolim is witnessing rampant development in the form of Real estate. The Electricity Department mandatorily asks every project to install a transformer to take care of the low voltage. While the Local Panchayat body, Govt. of Goa, PWD (Phen) are in deep slumber, It is high time the PWD (Phen) and the Panchayat take necessary remedies to see that additional storage tanks are built to take care of such acute shortages. There has to be a rule that all projects compulsorily have water harvesting and dedicated water supply for the toilets incorporated while submitting their plans for approval. All old buildings need to be provided with subsidy to install the same. Maybe this could be the right step for water conservation in Siolim. The local body and elected MLA need to see that the underground sewage system work is taken up in order to save all our heritage well water from contamination due to the soak pits, then the next generation will be saved from water scarcity in Siolim.
