Environment air and noise pollution has become a very hot topic for everyone. The Hon’ble Supreme Court has been pulling up the Governments to see that steps are taken to address the fast degrading environment. Goa state Government has many acts and rules only on papers but implementation has been very poor by the authorities. Once the Government comes to power be assured for the rest of 5 years no enforcement takes place. But when the election model of conduct was in place the election commissioner showed how the act and rules can be implemented using the Police force, all such violators were booked.
Soon the assembly results will be out and the old practices of shielding such violators will start. The poor citizen is left with no option but to approach the Hon’ble courts for justices. The same implies with the sound/noise pollution produced by motorbikers with their modified silencers fitted on to their two wheelers. They zoom around the village roads anytime during the day and night causing lots of disturbances near schools, hospitals and for senior citizens in their homes. It’s high time the RTO officials ask for ISI marked silencers to check on such modified silencers sold in the open markets.
My friend took his motorbike for fitness test and was told by the RTO that the silencer was modified one. That he needs to fit an original one. How can a customer be sure if the item sold is genuine? We have seen the campaign against non ISI helmets, why not have a campaign against such modified fitted silencers? I hope the RTO is listening!
