Junta House in deplorable condition

Public, students, employees and others, including those physically challenged, working in various departments housed in the six-floor Junta House at Panjim have been suffering in silence due to the inconvenience and unhygienic conditions here.

The building is in shambles. There are cracks in the slabs, the plaster has collapsed in many places, there is leakage of water at several places, the toilets stink besides there is garbage all around.

People with disabilities and those using wheelchairs still face difficulties when entering the Junta House. The disabled-friendly toilet in the premises at the parking lot, has turned into a dumping area for waste.

It may be noted that Junta House is one of the oldest building and houses major government departments like transport, PWD, Forest, Panchayat, Civil Supplies, and Women and Child Commission which are visited by the public. The government needs to take greater strides to ensure its own premises are ‘Swachh’ and get repaired.
