One finds garbage collection spots across the city and villages where garbage bags filled with waste are stored in a built-up structure.
The municipal or the panchayat vehicle then collects the waste and takes it to the garbage dump. It is common to see the area around the garbage collection centre littered with garbage, as seen in the photograph. Stray cattle and crows are then attracted by this waste which is strewn all over the place. Much of the garbage also gets scattered on the road. Empty garbage-bins are also seen lying by the wayside.
It seems necessary for the civic bodies and the panchayats to keep the area surrounding the garbage collection spot as clean as possible.
People should be dissuaded from dumping the garbage outside the structure meant to store the waste. The waste should be handed to the garbage collector engaged in door-to-door collection of waste.
