During recent times, the vendors selling various items including fish, fruits, vegetables, etc along the roadside have increased tremendously. However, such a practice tends to be a hindrance for smooth movement of vehicular traffic. Not only to the two wheelers, but even cars are being halted and even parked on the road for buying different food items. At areas with narrow roads, the situation tends to be more serious.
The pedestrians too face risk in the process and are likely to be knocked down by the over-speeding vehicles thereby leading to serious injuries and at times even death on the spot.
The authorities like the municipalities and village panchayats should prohibit the vendors from occupying the roadside. Instead, they should be allotted a safer location a bit away from the main road. Such a concept will not only assure smooth movement of vehicular traffic but will also assure safety to the precious lives of the pedestrians and vendors alike.
Further, it should be made mandatory for the vendors to get themselves registered with the authorities. Occupying the roadside illegally should be banned at all costs. Hope that the municipalities and village panchayats take note of the important suggestion and initiate prompt favourable steps in public interest. Of course, shifting roadside vendors a bit away from the road will go a long way in combating traffic congestion.
