VALPOI: Kopardem villagers marched to the Water Supply Department, Valpoi on Friday and demand that the officials replace the operator.
Villagers point out that they have been facing water shortage problems for the past one month and despite several complaints to the operator, he failed to solve their water shortage problem.
For the past one month, we are facing water shortage problem in our village, and despite several complaints to the operator, he has not solved our problem, that’s why we held a morcha at the Water Supply Department, says Shripad Sawant, a farmer.
The operator kept telling us there is no water in tank, but also did not inform the villagers whenever water tanker came in our village, another villager Sayaji Sawant said.
The operator is shirking work and not doing his work properly and does not behave properly with villagers. So we have told the Water Supply Department officials to replace him with another operator, another villager Janu Zore quipped.
However, Assistant Engineer water supply department Valpoi, Eknath Paste said things were moving in the right direction.
We have already started the maintenance work of Kopardem village water pipeline which will be done in two days. Till then, we have made the temporarily provision for villagers and are supplying the water through tankers in Kopardem village, the Assistant Engineer said.
