I always thought that men are fast and furious and ladies are slow and cautious while driving. Whenever I saw a vehicle moving slowly and occupying the centre of the road, there was invariably a lady at the wheel. Today, men or women, everyone seems to be in a tearing hurry to reach the destination.
In the last two months there were three accidents in Assagao, all involving college girls speeding on their scooters. While one was lucky to suffer only injuries, the other two lost their precious lives. It is common knowledge that speeding is dangerous and that the faster we drive the lesser control we have over the vehicle. Besides, there are several obstacles on our roads, potholes, unpainted speed breakers, stray cattle, stray dogs, etc.
If reaching on time is our prime concern, it is better to spend less time on make up and leave home early, rather than leave late and try to make up for lost time on the road. Staying healthy is better than health insurance, they say. Driving cautiously is better than all insurance.
