PERNEM: Pernem’s fire station which is operating in a government complex is in dilapidated condition with the awnings and slab developing cracks.
The students of Shri Bhagwati High School and St Joseph High School pass by this building often and it poses a risk to their lives.
Ironically, the fire fighters who save lives of the many, is facing danger to their own lives due to the bad condition of their workplace. Locals demanded to shift the fire station office either in the KTC bus stand building or premises of Hotel Goa Darbar.
The news of two pillars of the building weakening has been published in the local newspapers multiple times after which they were temporarily repaired. However, the concrete slab of the ground floor is now in questionable condition.
