Maintain the city walkway at Rua De Ourem

This short walkway connecting Rua De Ourem to Patto Plaza Business Center was recently tastefully upgraded and a few crores of rupees must have been spent on this refurbishment.

Thousands of people, including foreign tourists pass by this path every day and the wear and tear can be quite pronounced. But there is hardly any importance given to maintenance and cleanliness resulting in piles of rubbish, many vendors selling their wares here further aggravating the already unhygienic conditions.  Even dustbins are conspicuous by their absence.

There are many number of utility wires of private operators criss-crossing the walkway, some cables hanging so low that one needs to duck down to avoid being strangled. These cables need to be neatly and systematically taken across.

Adjacent to this pathway is a park called “Mangrove Walk”, exactly opposite the tourism building which may be one of the worst maintained and filthiest parks in Panjim City. So much for the Swach Bharat-ness of our Tourism Department. One wonders, all the foreign jaunts that our officials regularly undertake other than wasting tax payers money whether it adds any value to our City aesthetics.
