At different locations we come across manhole covers installed along the road. However, at some locations the level of such covers is not uniform in contrast to the level of the road.
With disparity in the level, the travellers especially the two-wheeler riders are confronted with risk and danger. While proceeding at their usual speed they are likely to lose their balance and collapse to the ground. This is bound to result in adverse consequences including severe injuries and at times even death of the vehicle riders.
The situation tends to be more serious during the night due to poor visibility on the road. Seen in the picture is one such instance along the stretch of road leading from Tisk towards the Sub-District Hospital in Ponda. Indeed, the travellers proceeding along various routes must be assured safety on a permanent basis. Hence, it is the need of the hour for the concerned authorities to see to it that the manhole covers are fixed in uniformity to the level of the road.
Disparity, in the level must be avoided at all costs. Such a precautionary step would go a long way in assuring safety to the precious human lives during their journey. Let us hope that the authorities would take this important aspect into consideration in the interest of innocent travellers.
