The Mapusa post office is always crowded and people are forced to wait for hours to get their work done. To add to their woes, the internet is often found to be slow or down and they are forced to return home disappointed.
The main problem is that there has been an increase in the number of people visiting the post office but there is no additional staff at the counters. Despite work pressure, a few employees have been excellent in discharging their duties.
The post office lacks modern facilities such as an ATM or self-operating and passbook updating machine.
The authorities should ensure that town post offices in Goa are equipped with modern facilities.
