Of late migrant families have been spotted on the footpaths of the road leading to Margao Railway Station, and at many other places in the town.
They take over huge areas; cooking, sleeping and defecating with impunity with nary a care in the world. Their kids run around unsupervised, creating a nuisance besides posing a danger to themselves and to fast moving traffic on that stretch.
We also see beggars from Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan by the roadside accosting and sometimes aggressively pursuing passersby for alms. Some footpaths near Inox Cinema have begun to resemble big city slums, this is certainly not the kind of Goa we want for ourselves.
I request the town fathers and law enforcement authorities to take suitable punitive action against such vagrants.
