Every time I pass through the Miramar circle I see a fallen tree (happened in August), due to torrential rains on the compound wall (see the picture) of Miramar Residency.
According to a manager of the Residency, the fire brigade had cut the fallen tree after several reminders. I questioned the manager, when you knew that the tree was old, it wasn’t your duty to inform the Forest Department to cut it? The answer was, they do not act until it is really in very bad shape. Several trees have fallen down around Campal, Taleigao and Caranzalem areas and the government properties were damaged but if they have acted in time the damages could have been saved. PWD is another department which delays in taking action and lazy.
What kind of situation we have in Panjim? Are these organisations inter-linked to each other and wait for instructions? I think, the government must streamline this procedure and conduct a survey on the old trees to save the government property, houses, vehicles and even passersby.
These procedures should be executed much before the monsoon.
