QUEPEM: Eleven years ago, the internal road at Kanibagh, Morpilla was repaired and hot-mixed. Since then, with no maintenance work, the road in the panchayat area has deteriorated to almost no-existence, which has left the locals of the area with bumpy rides daily and worse during the monsoon.
The locals claim that the road has reduced to one-third due to complete negligence of the authorities.
They alleged that it was due to irresponsibility of the elected representatives in the panchayat and related departments, the development works such as roads, which is important for the remote area, infrastructure and development for the betterment of the people and village, took a back seat.
Amrish Velip said that the condition of internal roads in the village has deteriorated completely.
“The two-kilometre road in Kanibagh, Morpilla village has become rough and dangerous, which has led to many minor accidents during the monsoon but for the last 11 years maintenance and repair of this road has been almost nil and neglected and still nobody is interested or bothered to do the needful,” said Velip.
Another youth Rohidas Gaonkar lamented the situation.
Gaonkar said that the village has a population of about 300 people and 200 voters, but the basic rights of the people are still being neglected.
“Why still the village like Morapilla is very far from important basic needs such as road, water etc,” he asked.
