The Primary Health Centre at Porvorim needs attention from the health ministry. The population in this area is growing and so also the number of patients as settlers and migrants from elsewhere in the country have made Goa a home for them. To cater to the health needs of these settlers and the locals, the upgradation of this health centre is the need of the hour. However, only one main doctor remains here in service who serves under strain dividing her time between two health care centres coming under Penha de Franca and Salvador do Mundo panchayats. It’s not that our government cannot afford to update and upgrade these health centres both in medicare facilities and structure, but negligence on the part of the state Health Minister who has scant interest in the health care welfare of the citizens. If bridges can be built over Mandovi River in record time, why not provide the best of best medicare to the common man.
