Need for more public buses

Thousands of students go to Chowgule College to pursue various courses. To reach on time for the lectures is another task. Firstly, there are no buses that are directly going to Chowgule College. Secondly, the buses that go from Margao to Curtorim are very few.

In order to take a bus, students need to wait for either an hour or one hour and a half. It’s always the same scenario no matter if it’s in the morning, afternoon or evening, students face this issue every day of not getting a bus. When they board one it’s crowded to such an extent that you don’t even have space to keep your foot in the buses. Who is to be blamed for carrying too many passengers, students have to reach on time as well. Harassments and robberies occur easily in packed buses. Some of the drivers take 50 to 60 passengers and people travel as packed slaves that can breakdown due to overweight. Not everyone can afford the other modes of transport such as rickshaws and pilot services as they are costly.

There isn’t any bus stop built near Chowgule College that gives shelter to the students so it’s inconvenient to wait during the rainy season for long hours.

I request the authorities concerned to look into this matter especially the Transport Department and engage more buses to provide better service to students and locals.
