On various occasions, streetlight fixtures along the Adpai Jetty in Ponda are noticed in a neglected condition. One streetlight fixture has been covered with the branches of adjoining tree. Such an undesirable situation exists for the last several months.
Due to this error, the pedestrians and commuters returning home via this particular jetty during the night do not receive illumination on the road. They are subjected to great inconvenience and trouble in the process.
Further, a fixture over one electricity pole has been found missing for last more than a week. As on Saturday, the situation in this regard was found to be the same.
Besides, some fixtures have been fixed in the wrong position. The linesmen of the Electricity Department deputed at this location and also the elected representatives of the Adpai-Durbhat Village Panchayat have failed to come to the rescue of public at large.
It is absolutely necessary that proper illumination is assured on the road so that people travelling via ferry do not face any difficulty during the night. Let us hope that at least now the above errors are rectified at once without any further delay.
Prompt favourable action in this important matter would be appreciated by public at large. No doubt, the commuters and pedestrians need to be assured a permanent relief while proceeding along this location.
