PERNEM: The Khajangundo Bridge, a new tourist and film shooting spot in Parsem is losing its charm as the visitors are littering the place by breaking the bottles and garbage after partying.
Former sarpanch Gopal Bhisaji and the locals of Parsem Village have warned the visitors for breaking the beer bottles and throwing them into river. The locals claim to take the law in their hands if anyone is found doing so in future.
Khajangundo Bridge is the recently beautified spot in Parsem Village which is also a tourist as well as film/photo shoot spot. It’s also a sluice gate. Many people spend their evening here enjoying the beauty of nature.
However, this place has now turned into a place to consume alcohol especially during the evenings and late nights. People use this area for parties. However, while partying people break beer bottles and also throw them into the river which is used by local fisherman to carry out the fishing activity.
However, the locals claimed that many people have caused injuries because of the broken bottles thrown into the river and lying of broken bottle glasses have harmed people coming here for evening and morning walks specially the old aged people. It can be recalled that last year villagers of Vaidongar had come together to clean this bridge.
Former sarpanch of Parsem Village Panchayat Gopal Bhisaji said, “Many a times we have requested the visitors not to break bottles here. Instead keep them at one place so that the panchayat will clear it. But even after making so many requests the visitors are doing the same thing. But now if we find anyone throwing and breaking the bottles here then we will take the law in hand.”
