On September 25 at 4.30 pm, Navelim Village Development Committee Convenor Eleuterio A Carneiro convened a meeting with the panchayat along with respective ward members over the article in the column Citizen Herald, dated September 25, by one Antonio Fernandes from Verna. The newly-elected panchayat body took charge of the panchayat from June and the development work has been appreciated by the villagers.
The new body has not yet issued any construction licenses and on September 21, villagers had gathered to chalk out the village development plan with ZP member and MLA.
On the issue of garbage disposal, Navelim panchayat will be the first to convert wet waste into electricity, as per the pilot project planned in collaboration with Goa Waste Management Corporation.
The monsoon is not yet over to start road repair and hot-mixing works. A part of Dongorim ward is still left for the completion of sewage networks
