No maintenance of Garcia de Orta

The Senior Citizens of the Capital City of Goa would like to bring to the notice of the concerned authorities the pathetic condition of the only beautiful garden – Garcia de Orta-II in Panjim.
Lots of Senior Citizens and very Senior Citizens, as well as young, including foreigners and Indian Tourists are visiting this garden, however, it is neglected very much.
The garden needs the following things:
(a) It requires some comfortable benches to sit. The number of benches are inadequate for senior citizens and most of them are either broken or planks missing etc.
(b) For the past one year or more, the area especially near the Asoka Pillar and the walking/jogging path is in complete darkness. The beautiful small ornamental lights which are around the lawns are not functioning. Senior citizens are finding it very difficult to move around in the garden in the darkness.
(c) The Children’s play area is in a miserable condition with all the facilities broken.
(d) Citizens would like the authorities to provide soft music either in Konkani /Marathi, Hindi, English/Portuguese from one of the available rooms in the garden from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm for benefit of the citizens frequenting the garden.
We have written to the Mayor and Commissioner of the City of Panjim some time back, but there is no response from them. They have just turned a blind eye. Can someone help to restore this beautiful garden? Request our Hon’ble CM to intervene please.
