QUEPEM: Absence of streetlights or electric poles on more than one kilometre Quepem-Balli road at Dhavatewada village falling under Balli-Adnem Village Panchayat jurisdiction poses danger to commuters’ safety especially in the night as the road is surrounded with jungle on both the sides.
A Quepem local Vishal Desai said, “This is a serious issue where many local commuters who commute through this road meet with minor accidents. The commuters passing through this road have complained several times to the concerned authorities about the absence of streetlights on the road, where there is an every possibility of meeting with an accident when one encounters stray dogs or stray cattle on the road. This route is always in darkness.”
Another local Hiraj Malvankar questioned about the development works, safety and security of the people at Dhavatewada where Quepem town is nearly three kilometres away from this village and also main route of Quepem to Balli and also Cuncolim, Canacona but the road does not have streetlights. The concerned authorities need to look into this issue at the earliest.”
