On National Highway 17 between St Sebastian Chapel and Dandeavaddo junction, many trees are dangerously protruding on to the highway thus endangering life and limb.
In the past, it was fortunate that the commuters and vehicles have providentially escaped unhurt. Trees have been uprooted and branches crashed and luck cannot be extended always praying for Divine Providence.
The trees had been acquired and paid way back in 1988 for expansion of highway but yet to be cleared to the benefit of vehicular traffic or line of vision. Even registered letter was addressed some years back to the PWD of NH17 Division that they would be held responsible for any accidents due to their negligence.
The Village Panchayat and Electricity Department too has remained unconcerned and will wake up only when tragedy strikes perhaps. Even now it is not too late to take precautionary measures.
