Paint speed breakers to avoid accidents in the night at Chandor; solve garbage issue

It is really sad that though we have recently celebrated 75th Independence Day, ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, recently, but the basic needs issues are not solved for years.

After getting the freedom from the British rule, the people of Goa are fighting among themselves and with the government departments to make Goa a better place.

On August 15, I visited the panchayat office for flag hoisting ceremony and later brought to the attention of Chandor-Cavorim Village Panchayat secretary the issue of un-painted speed breakers, which are causing accidents at Chandor.

In his rely, he told me that the work of painting speed breakers and signboards are undertaken by the PWD Department.  But I know it’s the panchayat’s responsibility to take the matter further to the departments, which comes under their jurisdiction.

If the people starting visiting each department to highlight their problems then what is the role of the panchayat in the village?

Recently, there was an accident reported at Cotta, Chandor. The root cause of the accident was that the speed breakers cannot be seen at night and there are no signboards installed near the speed breakers.

A girl fell from her two-wheeler which she was riding and the locals called 108 ambulance for her help. There is zero per cent safety on our roads.

Another problem of Chandor-Cavorim Village Panchayat is that the garbage collection was stopped for the past 15 days giving excuse of elections and now the people have started throwing the garbage anywhere by the roadside in the village which is affecting the environment.

Requesting our village panchayat, MLA Yuri Alemao and the PWD Department to solve these issues as soon as possible.
