Panchayat Min urged to upgrade Chicalim Sub District Hospital bed capacity

VASCO:  Due to sudden spike in dengue cases in port town in monsoon, Mormugao Municipal Council former councillor Daji Salkar has urged Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho to upgrade Chicalim Sub District Hospital bed capacity to 100 to benefit the people of Mormugao Taluka. 

Krishna (Daji) Salkar, along with his wife Shami Salkar, who is the present councillor recently identified sites which could the breeding grounds for mosquitoes and did fogging, spraying of medicine to clear the vector-borne diseases. 

Salkar after holding inspection of his ward urged the Dabolim MLA and Panchayat Minister to upgrade Chicalim Sub District Hospital SDH into full-fledged hospital with a minimum capacity of 100 beds so that the entire Mormugao Taluka will benefit from it. 

Speaking to the reporters, he said that as safety of our people is of paramount importance. We on our part have been doing regular fogging in the port town and seeing that our surroundings are kept clean as much as possible.

He also said that he has requested the MMC and health officials to take necessary measures to stop the spread of dengue. 

Salkar opined that everyone should take utmost care and follow the basic hygiene to avoid mosquito breeding as it breeds in even a capful of clean water. 

He requested the general public to spare a few minutes of their time and look around the house and make sure there is no breeding taking place.  

Earlier, in order to bring about awareness as well as to contain the spread of this deadly disease, Salkar along with Councillor Shami and the health officials visited potential breeding grounds for dengue and malaria and took measures for containment of the same. This was done considering the recent spike in the dengue cases in port town and neighbouring areas Dabolim and Mormugao.
